Studying Humanities shifted my center from the cultural norms of the West. It expanded my comfort zone and set me up for a lifelong self-study in the affairs of the global community. For better or worse - and despite the isolationist trends that come and go in our political system - the United States will forever be involved in world affairs. So while the STEM professionals toil away in labs (and we are indebted to them for that!), our global-minded professionals will engage other human beings. I've been able to make friends, forge partnerships, and outsmart shared enemies, all thanks to an education in the Humanities.
